The phone rang and I slowly awakened to see that it was already 8:45. "Hello?" I said grogily into the receiver.
"Morning sunshine, did you just get up?" I recognized the voice. It was Brian.
"Um, yeah, how can you tell?"
"Just a guess."
"Right."
"Well anyway, I called to let you know that tour rehearsal starts next Monday."
"Already?"
"Nick, bud, maybe you forgot, but the tour starts in 3 weeks."
"I know, but it just seems so soon."
"Yeah, I know the feeling. Finally get to come home then you gotta leave right again. But anyway, be there at 9."
"Ok. But do you mean this coming Monday or the Monday after?"
"The Monday as in, just a sec, 1...2...3..4...5, in 5 more days."
"A little soon if the plans just got finalized, isn't it?"
"Actually, I've been calling you all week, but your phones always busy, your cell's not on, or your gone. What cha been doing all this time?"
"Stuff."
"What kinda stuff?"
"The kinda stuff you dont need to know about."
"C'mon Nick. You're my best friend, you can tell me."
"Fine, I've been talking to Alex all that time the phone's been busy."
"Alex? Oh! The deaf girl."
"I'd rather you just call her Alex."
"Sorry, I was just making sure we were talking about the same girl, but wait a sec. How can she use the phone?"
"I've been on IM chatting with her."
"Oh, I understand now. You really like her, don't you?"
"Yeah, that's why I took out on a date last night."
"Nick, you animal! That's why you were still sleeping wasnt it?"
"No. Jesus Christ Brian, it was our 1st date. Like anything like that would happen. Are you a little horny today or what?"
"What's it to you?"
"Ohhhhhhhhh!"
"Just kidding."
"Rrrrrriiiiggghhhhtttt."
"I am. But anyways, how was it?"
"It was nice. I took her to my favorite beach and we had a nice simple picnic dinner. Then we just sat there and looked at the stars."
"Sounds really nice. Jeez, Nick, you gotta start keeping me updated on all this stuff. You havent talked to me forever."
"I've been busy."
"I know. Well, I better let you go. Leighanne wants to go shopping for stuff for the house or something gay like that. She's really starting to get kinda bossy. I don't know if moving in together was really the right choice."
"Well, they do say, you don't really know someone until you live with them."
"Yeah well, then it isn't looking good."
"Hate to hear that man. I'm just worried about what will happen between me and Alex when I go away for 3 months."
"Bring her along. It's not like any of us don't bring our girlfriends along."
"Yeah, I could do that. We'll see what she thinks. Well, Ill let you go."
"Alright. See ya Nick."
"See ya Bri. God, I was not looking forward to this tour at all."

i just got a job, ive never had a paying job before. i dont wanna leave it before my first day of work. i want to be an independent person. i want to stop relying on my dad and sister.

She logged off, so did I. I was kinda depressed that she didnt want to come with me, but I understood her side too. I just didnt have the best idea of what it was really like for her at home.
