Chapter Ten: Missing You - BSB

She picked up the phone, in her house and slowly dialed the digits written on the Long John Silvers stationary. "Hello?"

"Hello, is Brian there?"

"Uh yeah, may I ask who this is?"

"It's a friend of his."

"Can I have a name please? It's not that I care so much who hes friends with, its just, you sound familiar," Jackie said.

"It's uh, Natalie."

"Ok, I'll get him."

"Brian! Telephone!" Jackie shouted upstairs toward her son. He ran down the stairs.

"Who is it?"

"Some Natalie girl."

"Natalie?" He didnt know a Natalie. He took the phone from his mom. "Hello?"

"Hi, uh, Brian. This is Natalie. I'm the girl from Long John Silvers last night."

"Oh, Natalie! That's a pretty name."

"Thanks." If it was her name. No! It was her name now. Brian now knew her as Natalie, not Lillian.

"Yeah well, I was wondering if you wanted to get together sometime."

"Um, sure. When?"

"Is tonight okay?"

"Sure, I don't have any plans."

"I'll pick you up at seven."

"Where are we going?"

"I'll surprize you."

"Oh, exciting," she said sarcastically. She gave him her address. "I'll see you later then?"

"Yep. See ya. They hung up. What were the chances that he wouldn't remember her? She hoped they were good. *I'm Natalie Johnson. I'm Natalie Johnson. I
lived in Wisconsin all my life until a few days ago. I'm here because I just needed a change, nothing more. I work at....oh, maybe I should get a job. My car cash wont last
forever.* She hopped into her car and decided if she was going to go out with someone, maybe she should have an extra amount of cash, a job is what she needed.

Natalie heard a knock on her apartment door. She glanced at her clock. 7o'clock. *This is it.* She got off of her furnished couch and answered the door.

"Hi!" she said as she saw Brian's smiling face and hand holding a single white rose.

"Hi, uh, this is for you." He handed her the flower.

"Aw, thanks. Come in." He followed her lead and sat down on the couch. Natalie opened a cupboard and pulled out a plastic glass and filled it with water. She
didn't have any flower vases. She sat it down on the table and walked over to sit by Brian.

"Nice place you got here."

"Yeah right."

"How long you lived here?"

"Actually, just a few days."

"Really? Well, I knew you didn't have much of an accent so I figured you hadn't been here very long, but I didn't know it was that recent."

"Yeah."

"Where'd you move from."

"Actually I moved from Wisconsin."

"Goodness, that's quite a change."

"Tell me about it."

"Why'd you decide to move here?"

"I don't know really. I just needed a change."

"Really."

"Yep. So uh, how old are you?" she asked, knowing the answer.

"18, but I still live with my parents. At least until I finish off high school. Only got about a month and a half. Well, two months maybe. How old are you?"

"18. I graduated early."

"And you just decided to move?"

"Thats pretty much it.''

"Why? What did your parents think?"

"My dad's been dead since I can remember and my mom died in February."

"Oh, I'm sorry."

"Don't be, you didn't know." He just shrugged his shoulders. *God, could this get any more akward?*

"So where are we going?"

"I told you, its a surprize."

"Fine. Well, why dont we get going then?" She didn't want to talk about her past anymore, in case she would happen to slip up and give some information she didn't
think Brian should know.

"Thanks Brian, I had a great time."

"I did too. Maybe we should do it again sometime," he said, standing at her doorway.

"Yeah," she ran inside quick and brought back a piece of paper and handed it to him. "Here's my number."

"Okay. Well, I guess I'll see ya sometime then?"

"The sooner the better."

"Really?"

"Of course really."

"Well, in that case, I'll call you tomorrow?"

"You better."

He laughed. "Okay, I will. I'll be seeing ya then?"

"Yep." She leaned in and so did he. Their lips met and they both wanted to hold on for eternity.

"Bye," he softly wispered when their lips parted.

"Bye," she wispered back. He turned and headed down the hallway and she turned and headed into her home. To think she hadn't seen him in 10 years. She wanted to tell him everything, but she couldn't. What if she did tell him. What would he think? She loved him now. She loved him as a friend before, but now she loved him as a lover. It had only been one date and she could feel their strong connection. It may have been that they were exactly the same as children, but who was he loving? Natalie or the Lillian she truly was? She should've told him the truth in the first place, but it was too late now. He'd never be able to find out as long as they were together. She took off the black long-sleeve jacket that matched her black tanktop. She remembered to cover her scar,
maybe he wouldnt remember that. Maybe he had forgotten Lillian totally. She could only hope.
